zinc-aluminium-magnesium coating Magnelis
Steels with the zinc-aluminium-magnesium coating Magnelis® are ideal for construction and civil engineering applications, where good corrosion resistance in very aggressive environments (e.g. chloride or highly alkaline) is required.
The alloy, consisting of 93.5% zinc, 3.5% aluminium and 3% magnesium, is applied by means of a continuous hot dip galvanising process.
Thanks to its 3% magnesium content, Magnelis® offers self-healing on cut edges and superior corrosion resistance in chloride and ammonia atmospheres. This high corrosion resistance means that less metallic coating is required (weight reduction), which facilitates processing steps such as welding.

Certification for corrosivity class C5
Magnelis® ZM310 is the first metallic coating that received a C5 certification. The Technical Research Institute of Sweden (SP) states that Magnelis ZM310 is suitable for corrosivity class C5, according to SS-EN ISO 12944 - 2.
